THE MILE HIGH CLUB PRODUCTION NOTES... Part 4/4

(Ok so here's the deal... I was trying to keep these production notes edited to 4 post. Now I see I have a lot more, a lot more. Most of it is technical stuff. I want this to be entertaining. So here's the deal, I am just going to cover day one of filming... It was the most adventurous of all the days. The rest is just boring anyway. You don't wanna know about me in a Waikiki hotel room with a sexy ass Asian chick and my camera crew.. So here's scene one. That's it you watching the rest. Haha..)

So today's it's lights, camera, action.... I am heading to town to scoop up Tasha. It was funny cause she came out and of her building looking for me in the old civic and was surprised to see the Jag. She was in total costume and killing that flight attendant look. Everyone was looking at here get in the Jag like, "she's with a pimp, going to do some role playing".. LOL... Yea, I would call it role playing. As we ride, I think she's feeling the Jag a little to much, cause she making them flirty sex me eyes.. It's true girls get sexually excited by nice cars.. Who but them knows why... I do know she married some broke ass ex-service man, so they hurting finically right now, cause she act like she'll do anything for a dollar right now. She keeps asking me about any work I can get her. I know she bugging and no I am not into that, anymore. LOL... I turn on some music and we drive to the Honolulu Airport, to shoot the first scene..

I love stealing shots, fuck permits, fuck all that dumb shit. I remember I had one of them liability polices in florida required to get a permit for filming. It's cost like a $1,000. The actually film permit was free you just needed the insurance. All we filmed was one day, but that covered the whole year, which I didn't really take advantage of. Anyway, I'll just steal shots for now and I most likely, always will or work on a soundstage, when I do much bigger stuff someday. For now we steal shots! The only problem were near the Air Port. After 9/11, being from NYC, even I know you don't want to get busted filming anything near a Airport with out notice.

Fuck it, who got time for all that. We guerilla with it out here. Why spend all that time for something that will take me 15- 30 minutes to do. It's just stupid. Plus I already scouted the location. No security cameras and it's just a parking lot at the end of the road. All we have to do is just watch for the security rovers, but I never seen any out here. What makes it really a big deal is that HNL is shared by the Military. Hey a lil danger is fun!

We all link up at the rally point and head to the spot. I have my four person film crew set up covertly, like they belong there. The only one sticking out, by the way they are dressed is Tasha. So I brief her in the car real quick and then walk her to her mark and we do a walk through. Now you know I just hate doubters! My Cameraman has to be the one to ask, "don't we need a permit". I tell him, "look, it's cool you just do your part and everyone will be happy". Hell you getting paid and I am smart. Yadda, yadda, yadda!!! They don't understand, all this having to explain shit, is just wasting what little time we don't have. I really need to turn him to the dark side, make him be bad, live a little. Ok now Tasha is the one fucking up. All she has to do, is walk from one spot to the car and put the bag in the trunk and get in the car. How the hell can't you understand that... I think they just fucking with me. As they learn, I hate when you ask me fucking questions! Don't ask me questions, just do! So finally everyone is ready and just as we are about to start. Hold up! WTF here comes a security rover. Now this some shit. So we just pause until he drives by and leaves. Ok so we got like 15 minutes, lets do this. Action!

THE MILE HIGH CLUB PRODUCTION NOTES... Part 3/4

So at this point, I am totally exhausted.. I've been working overtime to learn my lines and rehearse. Honestly my memory isn't the best, so I have to do this extra hard and concentrate. Along with all the other issues, with the crew, locations, ect. The good news is everything is finally scheduled and locked in. Tasha really stepped up and took care of her wardrobe adjustments, as the flight attendant outfit was just a bit to loose she felt. Hey I brought it based on the other girls measurements. She sent me, some phone photos of her in what she put together and man she look great.

Iam also excited cause this gives me a reason to play with one of my toys. The Jag! It helps to have a cool car that you can use. Most people don't know I have it. I can't see bragging, when standards are low, why should I do more and I don't impress. If you know what it is, I don't have to tell you. So yeah most times I rock the lil civic, cause you'll be surprised how many miles you can put on a car on this rock. Most of the scenes with Tasha are going to be shot in Waikiki. I just booked a whatever hotel room for the filming. My townhouse would have been better, but it's way out in Ewa and everyone lives in Honolulu. I meeting with the film crew today to go over the plan and everything. Plus I found this great spot by the Airport to shoot at, it will be wild.

I still have to cast these two police parts and no one wants to really do them. I got some people in mind, really I am not picky. I know people be thinking they get a special message from me, but really everyone gets the same message. Sometimes I do so many so fast, cause it's a waste of my time, I forget to change the name. That's the funny part. So I am just waiting on who contacts me first. I already wasted enough time with auditions and such. I'am fortunate that for me it's not about the money, I got that. It's the time. Time I don't have and can't be replaced. Even just talking about it for me is a waste of time if nothing comes of it. I am suppose to be dealing with more serious people anyway, but that's another story around here. I came here on a mission and I won't be detoured. Everything is going good right now so that's the best part.

I had some arrangements with this local rapper named P.O.O.R to use one of his raps, but that fell through. I was going to turn it into a music video and all that. He keep acting like he forgets to email me the song. The shit isn't doing him no good on his computer. He probably bugging cause his girl got a crush on me. Some people aren't use to anyone real. It's so sad, when I tell you we got this and that and you don't take it seriously and then I pull up with it, you should feel stupid, this is what I do. I came all the way here, by myself, not knowing anybody, just to do this. Film!

I'll be staying in town over night, so that should be fun. Cross paths with some other tourist chicks. Hotel room party... I have to figure out how to ditch everyone first. LOL... Most likely all I'll want to do is just chill and relax. I am cheap when it comes to hotel rooms, I like to get every damn minute out of it and their pool. Every minute! It's like giving money away if you out all the damn time. So we start filming in a few days. Man it's been a minute since, I did this. I hope my crew is ready for me, fake drugs and a half naked girl. I be telling them it's The Wild Will Show, but they don't hear me through. Haha

Welcome to the "Joys of the Black Man" collection. If you are reading this, then I hope you will enjoy our brand and the stories we publish. This collection is entirely written, edited and published by a Black Male. I say this because, I dare not have anyone think that the content, subject matter and stories aren't one hundred percent real and factual. The dreaming of this collection, occurred several years ago, when during a conversation, with one of my homeboys about dating. We figured out that the chances of us meeting, a certain type of Black Woman, at age compared to our's ratio. Was going to only get harder and harder. Meaning as Black Women get older, they have more baggage that comes along with them. I started to keep a journal, cause I believed one day that it would be useful, to have some entertaining stories, about the dating exploits of Black Men.

Which brings me to my next point. That this a subject which is never spoken about. I am talking about the subject of Black Men and our dating lives. It's easy for everyone to assume, that they are just perfect and we have better success then Black Women. This is just simply not true. We all know that everyone of us, wants one thing only. A Woman who is ours! We are her first and last! Due to many factors, our social construct has fallen apart and we are just getting a piece here and piece there. Then it all collapses from the weight of all these things.

So I drew more inspiration from the classic, “Sex in The City” stories. Which feature four neurotic white Women, searching for who knows what. Gained more inspiration, from all the Black Male bashing romance films. Learned from my own dating and social experiences, with Black Women that our world was just crazy. Just to go into that would be another book. So I will say this cause, I know you want to get to the juice inside of this one. Myself I hate long book introductions. I will just say that the time is over! The time that our point of view, isn't represented is over! This collection is the first step to us being heard, seen and understood as Men. We all have chewed the same dirt. All been disrespected by our own Women the same way. So we have a lot in common and need to tell our stories just as much.

So the collection will deal with that. All of these stories come from my personal journal, about my dating experiences with Black Women and other Women. From college, on up to present. In the future I like to work on a teenage addition. Like a High School or Junior High School sitting, featuring what young brothers are up against today. Be on the look out for yourself, sons or nephews. Right now all I can deal with is Adult Black Men. So I hope you enjoy and I appreciate you for your support, now and in the future. Enjoy!

THE MILE HIGH CLUB PRODUCTION NOTES Part 2/4

Well, that went great. I just lock in a Film Crew. The camera man I am hiring is brand new, but I am willing to give a newbie a shot. He's got the right gear and that's like 75% of it. Bad news is he's going on vacay for a week. That was planned, way before he even know I existed. I'll overlook that. "If I don't find someone better, before you return, then give me a call". As for the rest of the Crew none of them had any gear, no light kits, no sound, no editing, nothing! They all knew how to use it and were trained, but hadn't owned anything themselves. So I would have to rent that.

Now it was time for the fun part, the casting! I really hate having to rely on a bunch of low rent actors... I swear I will never do it again and then I do. I like to just have a small formula, two leads, one supporting and some bad guys. That's still too much, for me... LOL... When you are running a project, someone always just flakes and it fucks up everything. So, I created this plan where all I really need is a hott chick and everyone else is whatever. I used them, for the day. Cause get this, there's no real actors here! They all go to L.A... Unless your counting the ones, who are back ground for T.V, ect... So I have to work with what I can. Damn, that's determined! You know everyday, when I drive to my production office, I pass the Airport and I see that flight to L.A (heaven), N.Y.C (already popping) waiting for me. That's too easy, I love a challenge! That'a all a real Man has left in the world, a challenge. I think of all the Film Makers, who are still shooting in their own backyard, or with the same actors, over and over and over again. That sucks! The real test for me as a Producer, is to go somewhere that I am not known. Present myself and build up the same type of establishment, I have elsewhere. To me that's producing.

Producers with major money have projects fall through. I am still dealing in the teens, but I am getting it in. Leaving, after all the time traveling to me, would be failure. After this, I will have a real talk piece. Some major difference in my reel. I can just brag anywhere else, "that I just went to Hawaii to make a film"! People understand, cause they know Hawaii is mad crazy introverted locally. I don't plan on dealing with the haole film scene on any level, differently not the major level. All they want out of a Bother is some comedy! I really came here to meet the Hawaii People. Learn about how others live, think, ect. My main goal was to give them a chance to be more into the spotlight and place them in film more. That's how I got the money to move here. I sold that idea to some investors and they liked it.

This is my first real casting. Now there's no audition space here, so I had to lease a office. A actual office to have meetings, auditions and such. As for the talent search, I had a crash course in how things work here. See in N.Y.C, all of the guys want to be stars, they will pay you, to get casted in a lead role or any role. You don't have a shortage of guys. For some reason, there's a shortage here. Well first off, there's not much diveristy in the males. So you get a lot of older white male and euro males here as actors. The few Hawaii locals I did audition all turned out to be Asian.

So it hit me! Hey, why not just work harder on becoming a Actor and star in the film myself. People are always telling me I should. Hell if no one wants me to make them a star, then I will make myself one! Haha.... It just made sense to me, that if I had to put all that engery in someone else, I can do it for myself. The notion here was that, no head shot, resume, ect. Means you are entitled to be paid. SMH.... As for females, well they're the same all over. the more beautiful they're, the more broker and dating some loser. So they all want to be paid and my favorite ones just will be down for anything. Not that's its something sepical, they suppose to act the role. You know, you get those ones who are just hustling. Speaking of which, that's just how we started to cast. The first female lead, she was a stripper I met at a local club here in Honolulu. Physically she was prefect, had some body on her... Except her attitude was less then stellar.. At the last minute she tried to hit me up for more money. It was just pathetic, cause she thought I cared about that. No I don't need you or no one that bad.. LMAO!!!! You know all her texts and calls, after that got ignored (Yes I am that badass, I can reject strippers) and the film still got made anyway. LOL... I am not going to say what scenes she's in, but I found a way to use that stuff. Haha.. That's the funnier part! The fact that she's not working at the club anymore, is funnest..

So anyway, I always keep a back up.. You got too these days, with all the pretentious nature going on in the biz, with these rookies... So I just offered another female model, named Tasha the role and for less money. (Producing 101: Hire the replacement at less money) She did the role. The best part was, she spoke another language. So I had her do it in Chinese. Which the outcome of that will be very entertaining.. So with the female lead locked, I just had three more parts to cast and I wasn't really choosy about that.

THE MILE HIGH CLUB PRODUCTION NOTES... Part 1/4

Credit:
(Mile High Club Movie Poster illustrated by:
Delva Borno/www.facebook.com/DelvaBorno)

When I first arrived in Hawaii, after checking out the indy film scene and realizing that there wasn't one. I was like "wtf" and "omg", this is going to be fun. While Mile High Club wasn't the first project I was inspired to do here, it turned out to be the easiest. It would also mark my acting debut.

I remember concieving the script in New York, about two years ago. While on the set of the Topp Gun X-rated music video. They had this intro rap that played in between the breaks of shooting, called Mile High Club. I just loved the rap so much, I was crusing them like, "we should be shooting a video to that". It was by sheer coincidence, that I had two of the models dressed as flight attendants already. As sexy as they looked, all I could think about was a very cool and fast pace heist story of some type. What I came up with was, "Mile High Club". Which the script turned out to be about a couple who smuggle ecasty into Hawaii. The orginal verison was something esle, but I adapted it for Hawaii. I decieded to keep it a short script, with a opition to make it a feature, by adding various additional footage and make it a faux news documentary movie. Truthfully I was just finding most of the female talent pretty lame. They all had their heads in the clouds about getting signed to some bullshit local modeling/talent agencies and being a T.V background extra. Those where the attractive ones, the rest just didn't come across as sexy or show up to audition with less then twenty people. LOL...

I came up with a very simple fomula, which would include myself and a attractive female who had a few scenes and that's it. I wasn't up for the ass kissing so I just bugdet the neccessary funds to pay a female model to take the role. (FYI: Yes I do offer paid roles, in my projects. Independent doesn't mean poor.) First I had to find a crew, so back to craigslist and dealing with werido's. It was amazing, in New York, you post on craigslist for film crew and you get serious responses. What I got was a bunch of hustling, part timers, with some of this gear, some of that gear, no film school training and didn't know a f-stop from depth of field. After calling the five werido's who provided their number's and talking to them. I just decided to cut my loses and move on. I had no idea that the answer to my problems, was right in front of my face.

So on a whim, I ask a assocate of mine about a friend I know they had mentioned, had their own gear, mainly a HD camera. I asked them to have 'em call me. A week later, I got a call early in the morning, which I just forwarded to voicemail. Except the caller kept calling back and did so three times, until I woke my ass up and answered. When I learned it was the camera man, I talked to my assocate about. I told them, "I would call them back in a few hours". As I hang up the phone and went back to sleep. After all of that, I was thinking this might be the guy.

I said it, so what!!!!!! Hahahaha....

So normally, I would say that this is very off topic, from the production of Film. At least in my perspective, cause only I control what I think and feel. Which I try to keep all one hundred percent positive all the time. Then there are just days when yes I do relapse back into that bullshit, cause true despair is like a drug. I mean pity can be both a powerful motivator and comfort. Even if you are a dedicated risk taker! Like myself, just to have something to blame other then yourself is easy to do, just so you can not tell yourself to stop and move one, instead you just keep on base jumping while knowing the last five times your chute didn't opening and you got lucky just to survive the last attempts.

"I have never seen a wild thing feel sorry for itself. A little bird will fall dead, frozen from a bough, without ever having felt sorry for itself." So no I don't feel sorry for myself, Iam confident that I am intelligent, talented, brave and strong. What Iam sorry for is the people who are laying there bleeding to death and instead of accepting aid from a person willing to render it, they would rather wait for someone else who they feel fit to assist them even if it means they will perish. While I can accept someone's choices, if they are based on pure fact. I can't with these people because they have been brainwashed. They have no idea why they feel, behave or see things the wrong way they do. At the end of the day I know they are just being biased.

Now being in the entertainment industry I am not surprised by this fact. The whole game is so very biased, so very biased.. I don't want to even go into it cause that's a whole other story. What I am talking about is the biases against myself. Mainly for no other reason then that I am a Black Male in a position of power and I have real power and wield it forcefully. As a Black film maker, I take nothing but air and turn it into something of matter. It's proof of my existence. The more I do it the more powerful I become. So you ask why would I be so worked up, well because it has never just been limited to film for me. It has been on me in a lot of other stuff all throughout my life. Even before I choose film as a career endeavor.

The Wild Will Show Webisode #1

Iam so excited to finally release the first webisode for The Wild Will Show. After years of just filming my endeavors as a Film Maker. Enough relevant events have happen where I feel confident in my ability to make it a very interesting and exciting show. I don't want to reveal everything, but you will differently get a little bit of everything about me and my life as a Film Maker. The good, great and the bad.... Well the parts that I can fit into 15 minutes.... Yes that's still enough time for the segments on the bitch ass mother fuckers I've dealt with... LOL..
